I do not have my OPI PC yet, but just reading your 1. post, it might be possible that you use a power supply that drops to far below 5V.
There you say that only the red led on the board comes up. There should be a green led beside it and come up too.
Just check the voltage on the 5V rail and if it drops too far below 5V it might be the power supply.

I can confirm the Armbian image works. It was the only OS that would actually boot my Orange PI PC and it works great. Thanks to the Armbian Devs my PI is no a useless paperweight. I tried every image on the Orange PI Org website and none of them worked. Most would not boot at all and a few would boot and then halt with some error.

If your board is the OPi PC (not OPi PC Plus which I cannot comment on since I don't have one to test or OPi PC 2 which I have not received yet) then you must have done something wrong. The Loboris and Jacer images work very well on the OPi2 and OPi PC. I have them running for months each time, I am only forced to shut them down when the power outages are too long for my UPSes to hold charge. It is common to have them running for over 100 days each time, without overheating, no memory leaks, completely smooth.

i get nothing. it looks like the pc is faulty. when i power it the green and yellow lights on the ethernet port light up. it dosn't do that in any video i have watched where the pc works.

Have you checked the voltage on the 5V rail (Pin2 or 4 for 5V+ and Pin 6 for ground)?
Most power adapters for cellphones cannot hold the voltage. Once you connect a load they drop below 5V and
that can lead to the OrangePI getting stuck in the boot up process.
You say again the red LED comes up, but not the LED direct beside it. This could point to a bad power supply.
So please check first the voltage on the 5V rail ;)

It turns out the transflash cards that I was using were the problem. I got some new ones and now things appear to be working properly.

Have you ever tried write your image on Windows?

I use PhoenixCard (https://androidmtk.com/download-phoenixcard-tool) only for android images.
