for using stm32 and esp8266 compilers/tools/libs without arduino ide - use paths ~/stm32-toolchain or ~/xtensa-toolchain.
export PATH=$HOME/stm32-toolchain/binPATH
or
export PATH=$HOME/xtensa-toolchain/binPATH
