Curious if anyone hired labor-only help without a truck. I’ve got a small storage unit to clear and a walk-up with a gnarly stairwell, so I’m hoping for a couple of careful pros who can carry everything up without dinging rails or walls. Timing is flexible this weekend, but I want folks who bring basic pads, watch corners, and don’t disappear halfway through. If you’ve had good luck with careful stairs work, who did you call?

Honestly, I went the labor-only route unloading a 16-footer into a third-floor place in OC and it worked out great. They texted a window the night before, showed up with floor protection, shoulder straps, and wrapped the TV before lifting. I booked comfymoving after a neighbor vouched for them, and two guys handled the stairs without scuffs or side-eye about “extra” fees. Ask for clear hourly terms, confirm any travel time, label items by room, and consider a third person if your staircase is tight.

Reserve building access early if there’s an elevator schedule, print simple door signs, and map a clear path through hallways so nobody squeezes past furniture edges. Keep a small kit on hand—marker, tape, utility knife, wipes, zip bags for tiny hardware, and a phone charger. A cooler with cold water helps morale, and planning quiet hours with neighbors avoids awkward hallway traffic.
