Hello, I have been running the Opi 5 plus (16Gb) for over a year and I am very happy with the unit. It runs Android well although I have just been running the OrangePi Droid OS because I didn't like the functionality of the Android 12 build for the OrangePi (It needs to be reworked for better functionality). The reason for this post is the NEW Opi 5 Plus (32Gb) that I purchased recently over the Christmas holidays. I have everything I need to put this together like a 256Gb eMMC, WiFi/Bluetooth card, Nvme stick 2Tb.... So I build the unit and install in a case, just the same as I did for the 16Gb unit. When I started the unit, everything booted properly and the OS ran but within a couple of hours the system froze up on me and I had to power down and power up to recover. This behaviour went on for a day before I decided to reinstall, thinking that it was a bad install. I am installing directly to the eMMC and as before, the system runs for a while and then freezes. I repeat the insanity a few more times before I realize that there is something else going on. I reinstall again and go into the developer settings to see what is going on... The VERY FIRST thing I see is: I am running a 33Gb version of the Opi 5 Plus with the Droid install.... and how do I have 33Gb of memory after formatting and the installation of the OS? When I did the same thing on my 16Gb version and looked at the developer settings, my 16Gb memory actually showed up as 15.8Gb..... So WTF gives here? I then decided to strip everything off of the unit (32Gb) except for the WiFi card and boot the unit from a MicroSD card. So now I am running Opi OS (Droid) from a 32Gb MicroSD card and the unit STILL shuts down after a relatively short period of time. I would like to mention that twice now I have seen the equivalent of the BSOD... Android version of it where you get the black screen with the tiny documentation at the top left corner stating the problems in Android and giving me the option to wipe the user data and recover. I took pictures of both the developer screen showing the 33Gb of memory and the BSOD that I encountered. I would like to know what is the procedure to return the item because it is defective and have a replacement unit sent. In any event, I am very disappointed in the quality of this product and would like answers and solutions. I spent a great deal of money to purchase this unit and I am very disappointed in it.

I apologize for saying that my 16Gb Opi 5 plus was less than 16Gb formatted. I checked it yesterday an it says 16Gb memory in the Developer settings when I am running Opi OS Droid, but my 32Gb board (the new one) shows 33Gb and in Opi OS linux build it shows 31Gb using a MicroSD card in both instances to run the system. A couple of days ago while running Droid from the card, I tried to update the OS using the OTA prompt and it failed, so I took the card over to my 16Gb unit and tried the same thing. It updated normally with zero issues. So I returned the now updated card to the 32Gb unit and ran the OS. At first glance it seemed to run the same way as it did before I upgraded the OS, that is to say that it would run for a few hours and then freeze up the screen with zero input available from mouse or keyboard, so I would have to restart the unit. It was like that last night, with me resetting the unit every three hours or so and continuing on until it froze up again after midnight and I decided to call it quits for the day. This morning though, the unit refused to boot from the card, instead showing me the BSOD with the option of wiping my user data etc. and starting again. I repeated this acouple of times to confirm and then shut down and pulled the MicroSD card out and replaced it with the Linux build, which then booted. I will play with the Linux build to get familiar with it while I wait to see if it will crash. I checked the build for the displayed RAM and it showed up as having 31Gb available instead of 32Gb, so I will run it until it drops. I have contacted OrangePi (Steven Zhao) to see what can be done as far as a replacement for this defective board.

I will keep you all informed.
